Description

The Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint set new standards for simulator pedal systems. As well as a new look, the Sprint pedals have had a complete overhaul in every aspect. A worthy successor to the highly acclaimed Sim Pedals Pro which they replace.

  • Provides up to 64kg/141lbs of braking force with a custom made load cell
  • SmartControl software enables you to set up your pedals exactly how you want them
  • Lightweight and compact design to enable you to fit them to a wide range of simulators
  • Custom made throttle and clutch spring which provide the best pedal feel
  • New brake load cell detection mechanism which features a smaller leaver actuated load cell sensor

Design

Sim Pedals Sprint benefit from a compact design to allow for fitting in a wide range of simulators.  Constructed from lightweight aluminium,  they are capable of a large range of adjustment for mounting on a number of different angles depending on your application. They can be angled from -25 degrees backwards to -5 degrees forwards. This allows for a comfortable pedal position for most seating positions.

The bearing and pivot systems for each pedal have had an overhaul with a view to greater reliability and wear characteristics. The new solutions reduce metal-to-metal friction and play in the pedal arms. The end result is a pedal which feels as tight and accurate after many years of heavy use as it does straight out of the box. Each pedal has uniquely designed end stops at both the resting and fully depressed ends of travel. This not only improves the reliability, it also makes for quieter operation.

The Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint are available as a 3 pedal or 2 pedal set for those not requiring a clutch. A single clutch pedal is also available for converting a 2-pedal set into a 3-pedal set at a later date.

Throttle

The throttle pedal features a custom spring which is adjustable for travel, pre-load and spring stiffness. This provides the very best in pedal feel along with improved reliability.

Brake

The brake pedal has undergone some major changes, particularly in the form of a new load detection mechanism. Rather than having the pedal acting directly onto a large load cell sensor, the new mechanism features a smaller, lever actuated, custom load cell sensor. This is capable of providing up to 64kg/141lbs of braking force which is 9kg more than their predecessor.

The pedal also features a 2-stage braking system which simulates the pad-to-disc gap as felt on real race cars by utilising an additional metal coil spring. The brake pedal is also supplied with several rubbers which have a compound unique to Heusinkveld. This allows for a greater range of brake stiffness settings to suit your requirements.

Clutch

Just as real clutch pedals become lighter after they pass the clutch bite point, so too does the clutch pedal in the Sim Pedals Sprint. A custom designed spring allows for a more prominent concave feel pedal curve for even better realism.

Electronics

The electronics are now enclosed within the brake pedal rather than a separate control box. Simply connect the throttle and clutch pedal to the brake pedal which, in turn, connects to the PC with a single USB lead.

Software

Once you have connected your pedals to your PC, you can then use the powerful SmartControl software to set up your pedals just how you want them. Within the software you are able to configure non-linear pedal output curves, deadzones and brake pedal force. You can even create multiple profiles. For a less sensitive throttle pedal for wet weather conditions, or change the bite point of the clutch for a specific car, you can set this up and switch between them with the click of a button. What’s more, all of this can be done without having to recalibrate the pedals in your chosen software. There are several pre-set profiles already included with the software, but you can tune these to your own requirements.

Overview

The Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint are a strong, compact and highly adjustable design, with the main parts made out of CNC precision laser cut steel. Mathematical models were made to accurately calculate pedal travel and force curves, predicting with great accuracy how each pedal behaves in different configurations.

All metal profiles either have a RAL7016 Anthracite Grey fine-structure powder coat or a bead blasted semi-gloss metallic look.

The pedals include all new concepts for bearings and pivot points in order to minimize unnecessary play. Automated testing routines have been used to simulate up to 1 million duty cycles.

Durable load cells measure throttle and clutch position and force applied to the brake. Unlike designs with rotary potentiometers, load cells provide true linear output in relation to your pedal output. They are insensitive to dust and dirt and do not wear out, resulting in unmatched accuracy and durability over time.

Electronics

The all new electronics have been integrated in the brake pedal. This allows for a clean setup with a minimum of wire clutter.

The controller board has received a conformal coating in order to shield it from moisture and dust. The product as a whole has been tested to be compliant with all applicable European EMC norms and regulations.

Custom developed and EMC tested electronics make sure each pedal responds instantly and accurately in your favorite simulator software.

The included SmartControl software allows easy configuration of deadzones, brake force and customize (non-linear) pedal output curves.

Throttle

Smooth, accurate and greatly adjustable, the throttle pedal gives you excellent control over any race car. With five pedal travel settings, adjustable pedal force curve, spring preload, pedal angle and pedal height you’ll be able to set up the throttle exactly to your liking.

The graphs below show the effect of the force curve and preload adjustments.

Brake

The dual stage brake system consists of an adjustable initial coil spring, simulating the pad to disc gap, and progressive rubber springs. The pedal firmness is adjusted by selecting from 6 different rubber stack heights. The pedal angle and pedal height can also be adjusted.

With up to 65kg (143lbs) of maximum brake force this brake pedal caters both for simracers who like to apply significant force while braking but also for racers who like much lower operating forces.

The graph below shows the effect of the force curve adjustment.

Clutch

The clutch features a regressive spring mechanism to simulate a typical concave clutch curve. Furthermore, the clutch features three pedal force curve settings, adjustable spring preload, pedal angle and pedal height.

The graphs below show the effect of the force curve and preload adjustments.
